Fraxel® Dual Laser Explained
The light energy from a Fraxel® DUAL laser is designed to travel deep into the targeted skin area, penetrating the surface as a group of microscopic energy columns. These columns—each surrounded by a larger area of untouched skin—trigger natural repair processes by stimulating collagen, which gradually fills out lines, dents, and divots to reduce their appearance. What is Collagen and Why is it Important?
Fraxel® DUAL laser works by kickstarting collagen remodeling – but what is really is collagen and why is it vital for skin health? Collagen is the most common protein found throughout the human body. Put simply, it acts as the “glue” that holds everything together. It is primarily found in the body’s connective tissues, bones, muscles, and tendons. When it comes to the skin, collagen plays an important role in anchoring cells together and maintaining strength and elasticity, as well as providing a structure that can hold beneficial hyaluronic acid molecules. Along with this, the tough, flexible protein also helps in the process of replacing dead skin cells with new ones and in wound closure by forming the basic fibrous network in the dermis (the middle layer of skin) upon which new cells grow.
